Chocolate Coffee Brownies with Hazelnuts

Chocolate Chip Coffee Cookies (source: dichohecho)



Ingredients



Makes 20 brownies

2 cups quality bittersweet chocolate

3/4 cup sugar

1 cup butter

½ cup brewed coffee

2 tablespoons Kahlua or other coffee liqueur

½ cup flour

6 eggs

¾ cup roasted hazelnuts, shelled



Utensils



8-inch by 10-inch baking pan

Baking paper



Preparation



1. Preheat the oven to 350ºF.

2. Melt the chocolate, sugar, and butter in a double boiler or in a bowl set on top of a pot of boiling water.

3. Remove from the heat, add the coffee and liqueur, and mix well.

4. Fold in the flour with a spatula.

5. Fold in the eggs, one at a time.

6. Pour the batter into a baking pan lined with baking paper.

7. Sprinkle the hazelnuts on top of the batter.

8. Bake for 8 minutes.

9. Remove the brownies from the oven and place the pan on a metal cooling rack to cool for 30 minutes.

10. Transfer to the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.

11. Remove the brownies and transfer them to a work surface. Cut 3-inch squares with a sharp knife. Wipe the knife between cuts to ensure that the cuts are clean.

12. Let the cut brownies sit for 20 minutes and serve at room temperature.
