Make my own coffee creamer

I remember a few weeks ago reading blogs about adding flavor and about coffee creamers. Yesterday I downloaded a book for my Kindle on DIY coffee creamer. I am not always a fan of creamers but this looked like fun so I tried making two of the thirty recipes listed.

I am a big fan of almond (I have used almond extract as perfume in the past) so tried the Almond recipe first.

One teaspoon almond extract

3/4 cup of Half and Half

1/2 cup of powdered sugar

Simple and basic but tasted good in my coffee. I took the suggestion given to put the mix in the blender with coffee and had a nice iced coffee treat. This works better with a strong coffee though. When I tried it the first time with a milder coffee it tasted too weak.

The second flavor I chose to experiment with was Chocolate Truffle.  This is a "dry" recipe.

1/2 cup ground chocolate truffles

1 quart non fat powdered dry milk

1/4 cup cocoa powder

1/2 cup powdered sugar

Grind truffles (10 to 12) into powder (you should have 1/2 cup when done). In separate bowl combined the other three ingredients. Make sure it is mixed very well.  Add truffle powder and mix. Store in airtight container.

I used the chocolate mix in hot coffee. It was delicious. Going to have to experiment with more recipes and will let you know how it turns out. Maybe combine the almond flavor and chocolate......
