making drip coffee from Vietnamese phin

I have been using the vietnamese phin coffee maker since forever for making authentic vietnamese coffee drink. Yet it has not occur to me that I can also make drip coffee from it. So I search around in my cupboard trying to find my old forgotten friend the phin coffee maker. I use coursely ground coffee (costa rican actually) about 12 gram and trying to aim for brew time of less than three minutes.

The resulting brew is less than 5 oz of coffee. However, the quality of the coffee is not as good as what I would get from the aeropress or the french press. The aromatic is a little muted and the  taste is a bit bitter. It is however not bad for a first attempt. For next time, I'm thinking I will do 15 grams and a slightly coarser grind.
